In order for a student to move from one grade to the next, they must have passed a certain number of courses/earned a certain number of credits. (1 class = 1 credit) The chart to the left reflects the number of credits needed to promote to each grade. If a student does not pass enough credits, they will not promote to the next grade level and become at risk of not graduating on time with the rest of their class. |
We have so many course options available to students, so I'm going to break it down a little:
Students have the choice of whether to take
It's okay for a student to take a mix of courses varying in levels of difficulty! Every student does not have to take all honors or AP's, nor SHOULD every student! |
So What's The Difference?
Academic level: this will be the standard level of a course that meets state requirements Honors level: may move faster, possibly more assignments, higher expectations, dive deeper into the material, etc. AP level: Advanced Placement = college level work! Most challenging level we offer; Potential to earn college credit *AP Level courses are typically offered to 11th and 12th graders, with select courses available for 10th graders |
We are on a 10 point scale for grades.
If you earn a 95 in a class, you get an A. If you earn an 89, you get a B, You make a 71, you get a C & so on. You must make a 60 or higher to pass a class. Anything below a 60 is an F so if your final grade is 59 or less, you did not receive credit for that class. |
